Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Nissan Frontier

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com. Today you're going to be taking a look at the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with a seven blade RV style connector on our 2019 Nissan Frontier. Now our Tekonsha wiring harness is going to provide us with the seven way connector at the back of our Frontier, that way we have all of the required lights, like our clearance lights, turn signals, and our brake lights, but it's also going to give us our reverse signal, our brake controller output signal, as well as a 12 volt power source at the back of our seven way.Now I do want to mention that our kit is not going to come with the mounting bracket to mount your seven way plug up to, so you will need to pick up this extra. But here we're using the Pollak seven way mounting bracket that fits our socket perfectly. The socket is going to have a spring loaded door, that way it'll keep all the dirt, debris, and moisture out of the inside, hopefully preventing any kind of corrosion from building up on the contacts. If you're looking to pull a trailer with your Frontier, wiring is going to be necessary, but our seven way not only is going to give us those lighting functions but it's also going to let us add a brake controller later on down the road if we want to, so we have a little bit more control of our trailer. The nice thing about our wiring is the fact that we're not going to have to cut or splice anything. more

Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Nissan Frontier 118525

Rob: Rob here etrailer.Com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Tekonsha T1 vehicle wiring harness on our 2019 Nissan Frontier. Now, our Tekonsha wiring harness is going to provide us with a four-pole flat trailer connector, that way we can get all the required lights to get down the road safely, like our taillights, our turn signals, and our brake lights. And when we're pulling a trailer, we don't have to worry about someone running into the back of us or getting a ticket, because it's going to keep us safe and legal while we're towing. Now, our wiring is designed to stay on the outside of the vehicle at all times, so it will be close by our hitch whenever we want to use it. It is going to include a dust cap that's going to be permanently attached, which will also help out keeping the dust, dirt, and debris, but also we can use it to hang or wearing off of our hitch on the seas chain loop that we don't have to worry about it dragging. One of the best things about our wiring is the fact of how easy it is to install. We're not going to have to cut or splice into any of our wires on our truck. In fact, there's only going to be one plug behind our bumper here that we'll be pulling our four-pole wire in, and then on the inside of the truck we'll have another harness and put a few relays in. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Nissan Frontier

Rob here at etrailer.com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the Curt T Connector vehicle wiring harness on our 2019 Nissan Frontier. Now, our current wiring's going to provide us with a four way flat trailer connector, and we're going to have all the lights to get down the road safely, including our tail lights, turn signals, stop lights, everything we need so we can make sure everyone around us is safe and we're safe going down the highway. Now our 4-pole wiring is designed to stay on the outside by our hedge until we're ready to use it, but what's nice is it is going to include a dust cap, so we can use that to keep all the dirt, debris, and moisture out from inside of our connector, but at the same time we can use it to keep it from dragging the ground, and tie it to our safety chain loop, that way it'll be ready for us whenever we want to tow. What I really like about our wiring is the fact that we're not going to have to cut anything at all. There's no splicing required. We're simply going to have one connector behind our bumper here, put our 4-pole plug into and then on the passenger side we're going to have another harness that we're going to plug into relays. Extremely quick and easy process. In fact, let's go and walk through it together. To begin our installation, we want to come underneath our Frontier, and over on the driver's side we'll find a few plugs. more

This seven way connector gives us the ability to tow multiple different styles of trailers because we can buy adapters where we can use a six way round, four way flat or a five way flat so we could tow a boat trailer. This gives us the most versatility when it comes to a wiring harness option for our Frontier. This wiring harness gives us the lighting functions that are required by law in order to safely and legally tow a trailer as well as the ability if we had a brake controller to power electric trailer brakes. If we had a boat trailer that had a reserve lockout solenoid, the reverse output function would engage that solenoid so we can back up a boat trailer that had hydraulic surge brakes without worrying about the brakes being applied. This wiring harness is a simple plug and play solution to your vehicles factory tow package. There is no cutting or splicing of wire. more

Another good thing about this working harness is that it's plug and play to your vehicle's existing tow package wiring, so there is no cutting or modification required to your vehicle. It's a simple plug and go operation. Here's a tech tip that I have. If you put a little bit of the dielectric grease inside your connector, which we have available on our website and then seal the dust cover up over it, that will help better protect it from the elements, making sure you have a proper electrical connection every time you hook up to your trailer. Now that we've gone over some features, we're gonna show you how to get it installed. more

One nice feature about our wiring harness is we have a built-in dust cover to help better protect it from the elements when it's not in use. Now, one thing that I like to do is to take a little bit of dielectric grease, which we have available on our website, and put it inside of our connector. Then here we have the Tekonsha, which is going to give us a four-pole. Finally, the CURT that's going to be give us a four-pole flat. Now the main difference between all of our wiring kits is going to be the end connector. Now both of our kits here, the CURT and the Tekonsha, are both going to give us a seven-pole flat and not only give us our required lights, but they're also going to give us control of our brakes and a 12-volt power source coming out. Our Tekonsha and our CURT that are going to give us a four-pole flat will give us all of our required lights, such as our taillights, brakes, and turn signals, but we're not going to have any control over our brakes. Now these aren't the only kits available for your Frontier, but what's going to set these apart from all the other ones is that they do come with the required relays so that the connector at the end of your vehicle will light up the lights on your trailer. If you're towing a small trailer where you only need the lights and you don't need a brake controller activator or anything like that, I think the CURT and the Tekonsha four-pole connectors would be a good option because, if we're not using a brake controller, this is still going to have all the required functions to get our lights working. On the other hand, if you are towing a heavy trailer where you do have a brake controller hooked up, or if you need your reverse lights or anything like that, I think the seven-way is going to be the way to go because you are going to have those extra functions as well as more amperage coming out. The way our harness is going to install for each one of these is going to be relatively the same. more

Another nice but small feature that the Tekonsha has with our four pole is they do provide us with some of this foam double sided tape so that when we install our relays we can actually wrap the foam around it which will prevent any rattling or any noise behind our kick panel. If all you need is the lights on your trailer, I think our Tekonsha or the Curt is a good choice. To make sure that you can go down the road safely. Our Tekonsha and Curt seven way harnesses are gonna have a lot of the same features. more
